There is always risk with shipped hatching eggs. We do NOT guarantee hatch rates. There are so many variables that can affect hatching, and most of those are out of our control. We do not guarantee a ship / available date, as availability of all of our hatching eggs is dependent on the hens, time of year, as well as weather conditions. Sometimes it's possible to have your eggs ready a week in advance, and sometimes it's several weeks after your order is placed. Egg color / shade is not guaranteed, as many of our colored layers (Marans, Ameraucana, Olive Eggers) start out the season in the Spring with darker pigments, and lighten as the season draws on. Although we do try for the darkest eggs, it is still possible to receive some lighter shell pigments depending on when your order was placed / shipped in the laying season. Occasionally an egg will be mis-labeled when collected, we are human, so please keep that in mind, if one hatches incorrectly from the order.
We do not guarantee the sex of any baby chicks. We do offer some breeds that are auto-sexing at hatch, but it's still possible for one to be misidentified. Due to bio-security rules, once a chick leaves the confines of our property, we can not accept it back onto our farm. It is up to you to provide proper housing, adequate heat, food, supplements, medicines, bedding etc for baby chicks. If you are unsure about the needs of baby chicks, please contact us, and we will help guide you. Baby chicks are very fragile. Please keep that in mind around pets, small children, and other birds.
As much as possible we try not to terminate a bird. The started birds we offer may have slight disqualifications or defects, or could just be extras that we did not need for our pens or projects. Please be honest about your intentions, so you don't accidentally chose a bird that doesn't fit your needs. Due to bio-security rules, once a bird leaves the confines of our property, we can not accept it back onto our farm.
Although our standards are extremely high, and our breeding flocks are Exhibition / Breeding quality, not all chicks that hatch will be show / breeder quality themselves. It is still possible to hatch chicks with exhibition defects or disqualifications. Some examples you may see could be: 4 toes on a Silkie, white or light skin pigment / toe / toenail on a Silkie, stub toe (missing toenail), color leakage, random white or black feather, incorrect tail set or wing carriage.
Our methods and practices may not work for every individual. When we answer questions, we give different examples and suggestions. Some are things we practice, and some are what other people have found that works for them. We are not saying that the information we offer are rules to live by and that you must do as we say, they are simply what we have found that works best for us, or others in similar situations. Any suggestion may or may not work for you in your specific situation or circumstance.
Deposits for hatching services or live bird reservations are non-refundable, unless we fail in providing you said service. Please realize, you are paying for a service, and not a product. Whether or not you complete your part of the transaction (ie: picking up chicks or started birds), we upheld our part and cared for that specific animal until the date we mutually agreed upon.
Hatching services or live bird reservations are non-refundable, unless we fail in providing you said service. There are no refunds for baby chicks or live birds, as all sales are final. Refunds for hatching egg cancellations by you, will be issued provided we receive the request no less than 2 days prior to shipping your eggs, and will incur a $10 deduction per-order, for payment processing fees. There will be NO refunds after hatching eggs are shipped. No further orders will be accepted from anyone who cancels any type of order.
Bio-security regulations prohibit the return of any hatching egg or live bird to our farm. All sales are final once the bird or egg leaves our farm. We encourage you to inspect any live bird, chick, or hatching egg prior to acceptance, and reserve the right to require any bio-security protocols to be strictly adhered to. We use Nolvasan, Synergize, and TekTrol as disinfectants. Please notify us prior to your arrival, if you have any adverse affects or reactions to any of these common livestock disinfectants.
